Here are the top 10 questions I get asked, and I'll address the most important and touchiest subject upfront:
1) What do you charge? Do you charge by the hour?
The question on everyone's mind! I typically charge all my copy by the project so you know what the project will cost you upfront. Copywriting fees can vary greatly due to many different aspects to each project. No two are the same! Depending on complexity, amount of research or interviews needed, length of the material, and meetings involved, all of these are taken into consideration when giving you a quote. Shoot me an email or give me a call for a quote on your specific copywriting needs.
2) Do you only work with B2B companies?
I work with both B2B and B2C companies, specifically within the travel, tourism, and hospitality industries. I can also help businesses in many other industries, so feel free to contact me for your project needs.
3) I’m across the country but I see you’re in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. Can I still hire you and how will it work?
Don’t you just love technology? Distance doesn’t matter to me if it doesn’t matter to you. All aspects of the project can and will be handled digitally, online, with meetings done by phone or Skype.
4) Do you only work with companies in the U.S.?
I work with companies throughout the U.S. and the world. However, I am only a native- English speaker and writer, so if you need to communicate or have copy in another language, I would not be able to assist you.
5) What if I need to meet with you on my project?
Beyond the initial meeting (either in person, by phone, or by Skype), meetings are typically extra based on an hourly rate. For larger projects, extra meetings (up to 3) can be negotiated into the project fee, as can travel expenses if in-person meetings are required. This will be determined upon assignment.
6) Do you provide layout services along with writing as part of the project?
Typically, a client needs to request layout services if they need that to be a part of the project. Layout/design will either be built into the total project fee or will be charged on an hourly basis.
7) Who will own the work once it is completed? Will my company get the copyright and be able to use it whenever and however I want?
Your company will own the copyright once all fees for the project are paid in full. After the fees are paid, the copyright will be the client’s property to use how they wish.
8) How much is my project going to cost? How do I know I won’t get hit with outrageous fees at the end of the project or you won’t over bill me on hours?
Again, to help give clients the confidence that there will be no hidden surprises, I work mainly on a project-fee basis. Although, since each project is different, I will provide a written project scope to you by the next business day. The project fee takes the issue of an hourly rate out of the equation and allows you to know up front what your project is going to cost. Of course, there might be instances where an hourly rate is used. When this is the case, you will receive a detailed log of time spent on your project.
9) What if I need the copy rewritten?
I offer up to 2 (two) revisions free of charge within 14 days after you receive the initial or revised submission of copy; these revisions do not include changes to the scope or content of the project, or where changes were made to the project after the copy was submitted for assignment.
10) I see you specialize in the travel, tourism, and hospitality industries; do you write for other industries or businesses as well?
The rules of good copy and content apply to any market. I have been trained to write all sorts of content that can and is used in other industries. If I am not familiar with your particular niche, I will research it until I can write like a industry pro! I have 25 years of experience as a professional copywriter having not only written in the travel market, but also food service, telecommunications, and non-profit industries. Once I have the pertinent facts about your business, I can create the materials that showcase your services or products in the best way possible.
